And hey, look what he did with it. ... narrowly avoided arrest because his brother-in-law happened to be a DEA agent?

Yes. That's the only thing that came of it because Walter was a buffoon.

Yes. That's the only thing that came of it because Walter was a buffoon. He wasn't a buffoon, but he wasn't a particularly competent criminal either. The only way you could deny this is if you have a very high tolerance for convenient coincidence.

You honestly don't think that he was competent as a criminal? It's largely coincidence that by the end of the series he has eliminated every single one of his enemies, earned 80 million dollars and established his product not just all over the southwest and Mexico but as far away as Central Europe? To me it seems like he did a pretty decent job, the only coincidences I can remember are occasional scenes like those where he was almost killed by the Salamanca brothers. I recall pretty much everything else as being a situation that was a success for him by virtue of violence or manipulation.

Ah well, I don't even know who those guys are, and I'll probably forget their names by the time they show up in my Breaking Bad run through. Unfortunately for me another guy is also going through the series, one season at a time just ahead of me, so I have to keep waiting for him to return each season.

We changed the thread to say "spoiler" and about half a dozen posts back I explicitly said (over the course of two separate parts of the post) that there were going to be complete, utterly show-revealing spoilers ahead. Honestly and without hyperbole, if you plan to enjoy the show without it being spoiled for you, you should really not continue to follow this thread from here on out.

What did I just tell you? I didn't read any of the posts. I just stumbled upon that picture and had no where else to post it. Just wanted to grind someones gears by making them imagine Bruce Willis as Walter White/Heisenberg.

Well it's up to you, you're the one taking the risk. Lately Bruce Willis just grinds my gears in general.

It kind of looks like Rick (I think that's his name) from Pawn Stars.

I like Gus. A Careful man. Yeah, Gus was very cool, but you kind of knew from day one it had to end up being him or Walt.

Most of the characters were X vs Walt, it didn't stop me from liking them though. I'd almost put Gus in my top tier of favorites, he's right behind the two main stars as the characters that I most enjoyed.
As for Jesse, I still don't really know what problem so many people had with him. I liked him from the very first episode. Based on the summaries of the show I didn't think I would, but I guess I find Aaron Paul to be an endearing actor.

Jesse was a weak willed pussy. That's what I didn't like about him 8)

He may have started that way, and I wouldn't argue that he didn't still have more growing to do, but the character definitely matured. His relationship with Walter (and in particular the things he had to do during this relationship) changed him, he was clearly a follower who was easily manipulated but who came to develop a greater sense of determination and personal identity when everything was said and done.
