Manhunt was great and not a horror game, it was a stealth game. Red Dead Redemption is an action-adventure Western with an optional non-canonical expansion that features zombies. Manhunt is considered a psychological horror game according to Rockstar, and it completely failed at being that, therefore it is a crappy horror game. Also as to the Red Dead Redemption thing... Why does it matter if it's an expansion? This guy said they try to avoid doing what everyone else does, but then they go and add in one of the most overused pieces of crap in video gaming today to one of their games. I disputed your examples because they're not very good choices to make the point that you're trying to establish. If the point is to rip on a company for "doing what everyone else does" and use a zombie game as evidence while ignoring the fact that the base game that it's an expansion of is a straightforward Western, something that in fact very few game developers have attempted, your argument comes across as inaccurate. Knight's right, the comment that "It's in our DNA to be different" or whatever the quote was is just typical marketing fluff. But by trying to paint the games as something that they really aren't you're exhibiting confirmation bias.

I said you claimed that they were the same, which you did. WHERE THE F*** DID I SAY THAT?! Soon.... denying what he implies.

WHERE THE F*** DID I SAY THAT?! Soon.... denying what he implies. I didn't imply that anywhere. I labeled the expansion as a zombie game, which it is! Actually you know what, this implying bullshit is stupid anyhow. How the fuck would you magically know what I was 'implying?' What can you read my mind? That's like claiming Obama was implying that he was going to achieve world domination when he announced Osama Bin Laden was dead. This argument is possibly one of the stupidest kinds I have heard next to the argument on what the constitution means.

My god you two, relax. This is a silly subject to get worked up about. Rockstar makes some shitty games, they make some good games. They make original games, they make derivative games. Life goes on, it's not worth an argument.

Don't say you were implying that they were racing games, zombie games, and horror games. You were implying that they do everything that is done everywhere else, were you not?

Let's all just start bashing LA Noire instead of arguing, my understanding is that everyone in the world will be happy to do this.

What's your opinion on the game? I haven't played it, actually. I was excited about it at first because I've never personally played a Rockstar game that I dislike, and I'm something of a fan of film noir so the idea of a game with that style intrigued me. However, by the time it came out I was hearing a lot of word of mouth that suggested it was boring, slow, long-winded, more linear than it looked, etc. In short it didn't sound like it was as good as it could have been so I've just never really gotten over my apprehension to check it out.

There once was a time in which L.A. Noir was the most anticipated game release of the year.
I was the smart guy who said "surely you don't truly believe that such a ridiculous concept can be worthy of the GOTY award you've already plastered all over it." They all laughed at me, said I was wrong, told me L.A. Noir would be the second coming of Super Mario World... Who's the one laughing now, eh? WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, MOM?!?

The idea of an open-world 1940s detective game sounded compelling to me, but I've learned not to rush into hype. The reaction to the game seemed to generally be one of disappointment, though I wonder if the game was truly bad or if people just lashed out at it because it wasn't what they themselves had worked themselves into thinking it would be.
I dunno, I guess I can always just play Deja Vu again.

I have friends who LOVED L.A. Noir... but I've never been able to bring myself to try it anyway.

Not forgetting it's not actually "Open World", Well not as open worlded (not a word i know) as GTA and Red Dead Redemption, Despite it being listed as Open World
