For the record, I do love hearing/reading about people's life experiences. I'm fascinated with the broad functions of humanity I share these sentiments.

I think my dad hit me once, when I ignored my sister getting injured. Oh, and they hit me when I did something life endangering, like running out in the road or sticking my finger in a plug. Other than that, I usually got the "Go sit and think about what you've done" thing. Made me a naturally very guilty person, I've been good ever since. I've gotten the pay attention smack across the back of head but I don't constitute that hitting your kids in the slightest. I've hit myself more than my parents ever hit me.

My Uncle gave me tough love at times (I was a rowdy clown child at times) with "pay attention" smacks and rolling my ass out of bed and making me go to church. I love that guy more than I ever will my own father. My biological father on the other hand... He only gave me "I'M DRUNK AND THIS COCAINE IS AMAZING" smacks. *Honk*

I haven't experienced those sorts of things personally, but I think of you as a friend, and I hate thinking of you experiencing that.

When I share stuff as personal as that, I like to keep it truthful, otherwise that makes me an untrustworthy douche. Yep, every psycho has to have a tragic past. Good thing it didn't last too long, my mother left him when I was seven. As a kid, I always felt like I had to put on a fake act in the false hope that he and I would overcome it. He never grew up, and I think it's safe to say that his demons got the best of him. Now he lives alone, and he's always angry at the world. I actually tried to talk to him last year (might have been 2 years ago). We talked about our past, I found out how good he is at manipulating conversation. I guess he still feels like he's in the position to give advice about life, and literally the one thing he told me is that "One day your friends WILL slit your throat if you let them. I don't care who it is. Don't trust anyone." So basically he's a kooky shell of a man that's been through hell and back, and never got over his own problems long enough to help anyone else in his entire life. I don't like our history, but I don't dwell on it. *Honk*

At least you had your Uncle.

...I'm... sorry? My birth father has a similar past, drugs and alcohol. I've never met him (Fortunately) but he got my mother into some bad stuff. She was smart enough to get out, and I suppose he cleaned up too. I've seen recent pictures of him, and he looks like an average dude. I still hate him though. My mother said he didn't leave because of me, but I know he did.

Jesus, man. I couldn't imagine living like that, family is one of the most important things to me. Yeah. If it weren't for my mother, I wouldn't get that. She instilled the value of family in me better than my father could ever do. She went the extra mile to make up for his absence. I was a real son of a bitch at times. She had more than she can handle, and that's why she leaned on my previously mentioned uncle a lot. That, along with her actual sister, the woman he's married to. I always thought it was weird that I considered a man that I wasn't even blood related to, to be considered more of a dad than my biological father ever was. HAH GOT YOU! No, really. When I share stuff as personal as that, I like to keep it truthful, otherwise that makes me an untrustworthy douche. Yep, every psycho has to have a tragic past. Sorry to hear about that. Yeah, at least I got to talk to my father. I don't know what it would be like if I didn't get to bitch at him about the past. I imagine there'd be a lot of frustration. All I can say is to keep your head forward, and focus on what's important. Be the man he would envy, that's how you win in that situation. *Honk*

Everyone has something in their past, but there is something to be said for weathering it without letting it weather you.
