Had a few sleet dats that will cause me to make up Good Friday and Memorial Day. Their aren't really a lot of "honest winters" down here near the Gulf of Mexico that I've been old enough to witness but this was definitely one.

That sounds like it would take effort. Here's a secret; you can't teach a child to be a self-starter. I can tell him to read a book, but if he doesn't want to, then I've turned reading into a chore. I can tell him to go outside and play with his brother, but if I force him, then I've turned it into a chore. Parenting sometimes requires understanding that a kid, especially once they hit the tween/early teen years, is going to have some personality traits of their own. He's also an A student (which I never was), helpful, generally respectful, and well-regarded by almost every adult who knows him. I'm very proud of him. If I had a child, would have tried to teach from a young age about using one's imagination....I wouldn't by him/her tech toys until he/she hits double digits (10 years old) Your son sounds like a good kid........I'm so proud of you Double D!!!

Here's another secret; kids that use a lot of tech toys aren't necessarily unimaginative. My son was nominated for the JNHS... by his Composition teacher. 8)

kids today (not shooting on anyone here specifically) gauge a good snow day from a bad snow day, based whether or not the power stayed on or whether the internet connection was still up. LOL so true. My 13 year old is like a lost sheep if the power goes out. He has no idea how to entertain himself without electronics. Me and your son, ( whom I thought was 10) are of the same generation and I disagree. I base it on how cold it is. I don't have anyone to play in the snow with anyway, and I also have no space. So I just stay inside. Plus this kooky weather has injured me 3 times in the past 3 or 2 weeks. Fuck winter.

When it would snow in Ohio I would spend all day outside playing and such.
Then I went to Europe where I lived in a house 5 miles from the nearest civilization and I lost interest in outside activities because I had no one to play anything with. That's about the time that I lost my life and adopted video games as my top form of entertainment.

I played in the snow as a kid but even though I still like snow I couldn't do it now. I HATE the cold.
