CM Punk is expected to return at tomorrow night's Raw in Chicago, Illinois, according to Dave Meltzer on today's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (listen here).
While Meltzer won’t say he’s 100% sure Punk will be at the show, his source, who he says is "one of the biggest stars in the industry," said that it’s 100% certain.
Punk has been absent from WWE programming since the Raw following the Royal Rumble on Jan. 27. Meltzer reported Punk had legitimately left the event after telling Vince McMahon he was "going home." By the following Wednesday, the official WWE website stopped advertising Punk for future events. The matter was publicly acknowledged by McMahon on Feb. 20 during a quarterly conference call to investors, with the the CEO replying to a query concerning his status: "He's taking a sabbatical, let's just put it that way."
Thoughts?

If Punk comes back and this all winds up being more or less a work then the WWE is even more full of shit than I thought they were. That's some desperate Vince Russo type of crap.

There's no chance Punk's walk out was a work, Though there is every chance that IF he comes back WWE Will turn it into a work.

I think it would be awesome if WWE turned this into a work.(And no Mike, his walk out was NOT a work)
Actually I think the best thing they could do is have him deliver a shoot, an actual shoot, on the company.

I don't know why everyone's so sure that his walkout wasn't a work. What actual evidence do we have one way or the other? It's the "new kayfabe" that Muta correctly refers to that makes stuff like this a constant uncertainty. Maybe it was real, maybe it wasn't- I gave it 50/50 right from day one- but if he does in fact return any time soon then I'm pretty much convinced that the whole thing was just a gimmick to drum up headlines in time for Wrestlemania and the WWE Network.
New kayfabe = lack of creative effort.

New kayfabe = lack of creative effort. If that was so wouldn't they have brought him back for the first WWE Network episode? Also they would have at least mentioned the constant chants. Instead they completely ignored them, except on one of the pre-shows where they insulted the fans who chanted CM Punk. I also wouldn't be surprised if chants were edited out of Smackdown as well.

Well if this is a work then my question what comes out of it in the long run? CM Punk doesn't have a WM match now so that's one of their top stars without a match.

Dude, who knows why they make the decisions that they do. If they really want people to believe that it's not a work, I'm sure they'll do any of these things. I'm not saying that worked shoots can't help the company (though it's not an automatic given that they do), I'm saying that they're the product of a lazy creative team. What takes more effort- generating interest with compelling storylines or simply telling people that one of your star performers has quit? If this winds up being a work- and again, that's IF- then I see it as a creatively bankrupt company that's chosen to rely on basic deception to generate cheap industry buzz rather than respect its audience enough to put together a product that can stand on its own quality.

You know WWE creative has been so bad for so long it wouldn't shock me if it's a work. It's been bad for what, almost 10 years now?

Punk coming back would be good only if he is inserted into the main event. BUT that could harm Bryan and it would cause the Shield not to break up seeing that would make two triple threat matches at Mania. SN: You finally put that gif as your sig. YOU'RE WELCOME!!!
