Also, while it may be silly to assume that Triple H "got everything that he wanted" by marrying the boss' daughter, I think it's equally silly to dismiss the notion out of hand. Neither of us know which is the case and both outcomes are possible so you're both making assumptions.

Average for a Main Eventer with multiple world titles? Not even close... he's lost far more matches than he's won. Almost 50% more losses than victories... Can you name ANY other guy who has been at the top and can say the same thing? Average in terms of wins to losses. He's won a bunch, he's lost a bunch. Main event appearances and title reigns shouldn't influence how many times he wins. His record is fair, any random fan has no reason to whine that Triple H always wins at Wrestlemania nor complain that he always loses. I don't see how anyone could honestly look at Triple H's career and ever say that he's unappreciated by the company. ... again, compare the statistics in the raw, objectively. Other than Randy Orton, no other guy who has his (supposed) stature in the industry has lost almost 50% more Wrestlemania matches than they've won. It's not like he's hovering around 50/50. He's WELL below the average for Main Event stars. The fact that you think that so many of his matches were buried behind "bigger" matches doesn't matter is just loopy to me. |

HHH was already a two time champ before the Steph Angle even started and a 5 time one before they actually got married(closest statistic I could find of their relationships) as I've cross referenced when the Steph angle started with a timeline of HHH's championships,
which is basically the minimum amount of research you have to do to at least infer he could've been a top guy without Steph.
Has it helped in some way? Probably but we've never been able to determine that (as the sacred internet belief goes) everything he's obtained as of now is because of his relationship

I've never said that things would have worked out exactly the same way, however, I think that the logical thing to do is compare HHH to other performers who have stayed with the company and in the ring over the same period of time. HHH's "accomplishments" don't even stack up to guys who worked half that amount of time, and as you already acknowledged, he was a top guy well before getting involved with Stephanie. Honestly, if The Rock (just for example) had stayed with the company and kept up working in the ring, do you honestly believe he wouldn't have just as many titles and a nice job in the head office? |
