I was thinking.... What if somebody went ahead and went into the Fourth Age for a game? Or perhaps somebody did one of the earlier ages that Tolkien didn't cover nearly as much as the Third Age? It would open up many more opportunities for them to explore... I agree... but I don't know what the market would be for that, because the casual fan isn't going to have an easy time getting into the lore of the earlier ages, and won't necessarily like the grimmer tone of the 4th Age. Well to be fair the games they are putting out now aren't exactly attracting much of anybody. I think someone should go ahead and give it a shot, especially if it produces a quality, lore-friendly game.

Hmm, true, lots and lots of clicking in an RTS. Different strokes, I find RTS games (when done well) to be quite addicting. I'm surprised you don't like them, there's a lot of fun fantasy strategy gaming to be had in a typical RTS. Do the Total War series fall under RTS? I've never played one so I can't say for sure but I think so. Strategy games tend to either fall into real-time or turn-based or a mix of both, I think people have told me that the Total War games are a mixture.

Total War happens to be one of the best RTSs out there as well as one of the best TBSs out there. It does both incredibly well.

But yeah, the First Age seems like it would be a really cool period for a game, and there is much more for them to explore, such as the larger existence of dragons, ents, and many other creatures as well as the elves at their highest point. I really think it could make for an intriguing game...

Ryse looks amazing. I don't mean that it looks like a fun game to play, I mean that visually, it's a pretty game to look at. Beyond that, nothing about it encourages me to think it'd be fun to play for more than 10 minutes.

Probably the best looking game of next gen thus far.

Random facts and news:
The PS4's launch was more successful than any other Playstation console released before it.
DICE says they will do nothing else until they fix Battlefield 4. Sucks for those who were waiting for Battlefront 3, you guys just got a delay.
It's predicted that both the Xbox One and the PS4 will outsell the 360 and PS3 in only 5 years time.
Indie game devs are mad at Microsoft for their policies regarding indie games. This could lead to PS4 becoming the go-to for indie devs.
Many PSN accounts were hacked recently.

I really need to give one of them a try. I started up Rome II, I think it was, but quit after a few minutes because I was kind of busy and they were throwing too many keyboard commands at me in too short a time.

Rome 2 is awful)Worst in the whole series). My personal favorite is Medieval 2...

I'm cuter than that chick. And there's something to be said for the simple charm of a classic NES game. I'd gladly replay an old Mega Man or Castlevania over at least half of the stuff that's been released in the decades since.
Mario Kart was fun too. The SNES version anyway, never played the one on the 64.
As for Rome II, what was specifically bad about it that Medieval II did better?

Well Medieval 2 was actually playable for at least 90% of the people who bought it. Rome 2 was playable for about 10%.

It was that glitchy? Isn't Rome supposed to be like the flagship of the series? Actually there is no flagship of the series, but the original Rome was highly praised.(The originals were Shogun and Medieval) But yes, the game was extremely glitchy, and many people, despite being well beyond the recommended specs, couldn't get the game to run at all. Many other people had common crashes, and those who actually could play the game experienced bad FPS. Then if you got past all of that you are still greeted by a game with absolutely awful AI and poorly implemented game mechanics that make the battles seem more like mosh fests than actually military warfare. Also don't even get me started on the Siege AI, which were so terrible they would literally swarm your gates without any siege weapons and just stand their as you slaughtered them with your archers.
