I'm hoping that there is a career mode, and that career mode starts with NXT, so I'm hoping that several NXT guys are just on disc. Barring that... I'd buy the DLC. I'm all for it. As long as it doesn't take away a Universe Mode away None of you read my thoughts on a MyCareer mode in a WWE game and how I'm skeptical that it would work the way people probably think it would, no doubt because the posts were too long. I'm sad, this is a conversation I was hoping the rest of you would weigh in on. |

The graphics do look better than they ever have, I'll give you that, but if they're going to keep making stupid mistakes like this (I don't see a beard on Daniel Bryan either, WTF?) then people will rightfully continue to complain. If you want the license, you should learn how to do it right. I don't see sweat either so unrealistic.. Presumably the match is only just starting. Still, you'd expect to see SOME kind of moisture by that point. In fact the more I look at it, the crappier the shading looks too. |

Seriously, I honestly wonder how a "realistic" or I guess you could say "non-kayfabe" career type of mode would work in this series like it (presumably) does for the other franchises. |

The models look fantastic compared to the old ones though. I think they may have added the classic "Empty Arena Hardcore" Match Type between Rock and Mankind too! There's no fans there! |

But it can be in 09 and 10 too) you could see the baby oil on HHH. |

I think a Season Mode or a Road to WrestleMania type story's what I would like. I just don't want NXT to be a part of the game. As of right now, it is still only developmental and idiotic to be in a game. I do think that legends should be in the game, but I don't want them to take the position of the current roster (NXT excluded, obviously). Of course I like having Bret Hart in the game, but I don't want him in the game if Goldust (maybe not the best example, but it was the first one that came to mind) could take his place. If they have open space though, include whatever legends you want. That's what I think. As I explained in an earlier post (which most people probably didn't read because it was a lengthy novel), I'm not keen on the idea of a game that spends any significant focus on NXT either. Not necessarily because I have no interest in NXT (and I don't), but because to me it seems like a game that emphasized the company's developmental show would be more about advertising the WWE as a brand than creating an authentic "career" experience. I guess what I'm trying to say is this: The other 2K franchises, or at least NBA, have a career mode where there's stuff like contract negotiations, free agent signings, different teams vying for your character, the possibility of poaching from the competition, right? At least that's what I've been told. Well, we obviously know that none of these things will happen in a WWE game because one single person owns the entire universe that it takes place in. So, if we do wind up getting a new type of MyCareer mode (or something similar), will it be an attempt at presenting an authentic experience of an unknown rookie's voyage through the wrestling industry on a quest to superstardom, or are we just going to get a fluff mode that simply glamorizes the various WWE shows, their developmental brand, and the importance of Wrestlemania and the WWE title? Will it be more "real", with in-fighting and "legit" betrayals and low paychecks and cutthroat competition and hard times, or will it be typical monopolistic WWE kayfabe mode where everyone's in character all the time and they all love the WWE and only care about being the champion and bla bla bla bla bla? I don't know why anyone would want a focus on NXT in principle, anyway. How do we know that half of the NXT roster will even be employed a year from now? And I know that they're REALLY proud of this developmental division (and rightfully so) but really, what's the game going to do to prove that it's as important as they want it to be? Trot out Bad News Barrett to illustrate the heights of success that can be achieved as an NXT graduate? I dunno. I guess we'll see. I just want a legit, relatively realistic simulation of an actual wrestling career (or at least an actual WWE superstar's day to day WWE comings and goings). Whether we get that or some glorified Road to Wrestling mode, I don't know. I think you are talking about two different animals. A MyCareer in WWE would basically be a season mode. Not with the contract negotiations etc. Like I said with Knight I would be all for a career mode as long as Universe stays |

Why would it be non-kayfabe? It wouldn't necessarily have to be (the SYM was more or less kayafabe and I was all over it). But people have, since last year, been throwing around comments about how much they'd like to see the famous 2K "MyCareer" mode added to the WWE series. There's an inherent conflict between MyCareer and WWE games though. MyCareer is all about simulating the "life" of an athlete in a legitimate sport which is something that I don't see ever happening in a WWE game. Because of this, I don't know why people would be excited about 2K's acquisition of the franchise and the potential for implementation of its career mode if all that we're likely to get is a standard (though in my opinion, wholly welcome) season mode. |
