Downloaded the free set just now, going to go through it this afternoon. I'm assuming Amazon'll send the starter set in the next couple of weeks then. Bonus. Amazon can't mail it out till after the official release on the 11th. There was a "limited release" for some retailers on the 3rd. So yeah, the next couple of weeks then, as I said.

Just read through the basic rules. Looks pretty streamlined in comparison to 3.5 so far. Got rid of a few stupid as a box of frogs rules and simplified them. I like that.
I also like the inspiration system.

I also like the inspiration system. My issue with 3/3.5 primarily was that there were so many options that it ultimately encouraged players to see their characters as mathematical machines to be tweaked until they reached maximum efficiency. 5 seems to be going back toward a model more along the lines of AD&D/AD&D2.

Which is always good. I prefer the system to be something you can have fun in and make meaningful decisions rather than work out which ones you have to have to be maxing. Min Maxing players suck.

Cheers brah, you too. I unfortunately have a power gamer in our offline group that I'll have to contend with soon.
Not looking forward to that.

I have a full table of them right now, and my way of dealing with them has been to simply allow them to have their way... I ram super-maxed out monsters designed specifically to kill their characters and counter their abilities down their throats every week. Somehow, they haven't gotten the hint.

Yeah when we start up again in a custom campaign (going to run the default campaigns until the DM guide comes out) I'm going to have a word with him and tell him to reign in any OP craziness he's thinking about throwing my way. Otherwise he'll be on the receiving end of a big fat monster stomp instakill.

Anyone who likes wrestling and peruses internet forums really shouldn't throw stones.

Anyone who likes wrestling and peruses internet forums really shouldn't throw stones. What if we're roleplaying ancient times where people were punished by throwing stones at them?

Anyone who likes wrestling and peruses internet forums really shouldn't throw stones. So we can't use stones as a weapon in D&D?
