He's not doing a very good job...

I want heel Batista backp Why would you want Batista back at all? He's a complete asshole, who is obsessed with money and fame, can't wrestle worth a damn, and now is blessing his cruddy acting upon us in equally cruddy movies. I would wish that he gets his legs ripped off so that I never have to see him again, but it's even more entertaining watching him struggle to be relevant somehow.

Heel Batista was entertaining with his bedazzled denm jack and acid washed skinny jeans.

I've gotta side with soon on this one. Batista hasn't been worth anything since Evolution broke up.

It's only really worth while for two reasons.
Reason one: He's coming back to put guys over. He was a big enough star to cement some guys. Is he still now? Probably not and he can only be again on the contingent of reason two.
Reason two: He's back on a long term schedule. Meaning he will be there every week. He's not a big enough star to pull off the limited appearances. He can be of use to put over guys but he'd have to get the star power back. I only see that happening with a full time schedule.

I personally am a fan of Batista, There is a lack of big guys there that aren't the best of wrestlers but are just raw powerhouses, I can think of 4 at the moment none of which WWE Are doing much with.
Mark Henry = Tag Team Big-E = Tag Team/Mid-Card Ryback = Tag Team Big Show = Tag Team

There were a few minutes there- just a few minutes- when Batista was being teased as possibly leaving Evolution and starting off on his own. Near the end there he looked more and more exasperated with what the team was doing, like he knew they were full of shit. Maybe a subtle eye roll here and an unintentionally distracting smirk there. I liked that Batista, I thought it was interesting to watch and see whether he would finally break free and fight his former teammates. Of course he eventually did and that's probably when everyone really started to get behind him.
Of course it didn't last long, he was still too limited a performer to really do much or maintain my interest and I started hearing all kinds of things about how he was prickish to people in real life and didn't seem to be that into the business anyway. All these things combined made him pretty much useless to me.

He's 44. He wasn't any good when he was 34.
I know I've told this story before, but several years back (circa 2002 or 2003) some friends and I went on a weekend road trip to catch a handful of Ohio Valley Wrestling shows. We'd caught wind that Randy Orton was putting on these fabulous matches and might be the "next big thing". I was a couple of years out of my job for the paper, but I was still really keenly interested in staying on top of those things (and still knew a ton of people in the business). We caught 4 shows over a period of 5 days, and that was when I first caught the Orton bug.
... John Cena and Batista were in OVW at the same time. I know that I saw them wrestle because I still have the flyers with the "card" on them... I even have Batista's autograph (as "Leviathan") on one of them... but I can not for the life of me remember seeing either of them. The grand total of the impression that those two guys made on me was zero, zip, and zilch. What's worse is that Batista was working a vampire gimmick. You'd think something like that would stick out, but there was just no spark in that guy whatsoever.

Because well John Cena and his character are raking in around 100 Million a year for the WWE. Batista has never been good as I say, WWE's just lacking that monster/powerhouse heel role that he has had before, They don't really need to bring him back in order to achieve that either, There are a few on the roster suitable for that role that are relatively young, Big-E Langston's name comes to mind, Kane if they get rid of that stupid standing gimmick he has (Just standing around doing nothing), Sheamus was good in the role at the start, Alexander Rusev (NXT), Sawyer Fulton (NXT). Alexander Rusev: Sawyer Fulton: It's a role that Brock Lesnar fits to a tee & he's damn good at it (drawing buys and crowd reaction), But he's not around much at all.

No spark, that sums it up. I know you don't care for Cornette but his memories are that Batista basically didn't have a lot of drive, seemed easily defeated, didn't really bring his all when the company was trying to push him hard. He had a great look but apparently maintained that sort of Luger attitude of "this is fun and I'm going to make some money doing it but it's not my passion".

So what you're saying is, you're not very good when it comes to spotting stars.... Because well John Cena and his character are raking in around 100 Million a year for the WWE. . No, what I'm saying is that "the Prototype" wasn't the John Cena that you're referencing. He was a generic buff guy in generic shorts who moved like a robot on his way out to the ring. The problem with your argument (and it's one that I see a lot of wrestling fans who just don't get it) is that it assumes that John Cena is as big as he is because of something inherent to himself. That couldn't be further from the truth. Cena is a product of marketing. Literally any powerfully built, inoffensive looking white guy could have become that character. John Cena brought nothing to the role. I also question the 100 million figure, given that Cena's popularity has severely dropped off in the past couple of years

Even the WWE acknowledged that his PPV buyrates were "disappointing." His merch doens't sell for $#@!. You know who cares about Brock Lesnar? Half a dozen guys who can't get their head out of 2003's ass, and nobody else.

Also whilst his popularity has dropped it's also built in other areas over the past couple of years as well mainly in Females & Children

What I'm telling you is that by any objective standard, his popularity has dropped overall. In fact, he's much LESS popular with kids than he was a couple of years ago.
