You're both wrong.
Bradbury wasn't writing about how "technology" would destroy the world. I have tons of his work, including the articles he used to publish monthly, and he was very pro-technology. He was commenting on TV and radio specifically, and how their use as outlets for mass media would result in an illiterate and uninformed public. It was not a sweeping indictment of all technology, or even of TV and radio specifically... only of specific uses for them.
Orwell believed that the media was key in creating an educated populace. 1984's references to TV are only within the context of a Soviet-style state controlled media.

Oh wow, I completely forgot that Fahrenheit 451 was Bradbury. I feel stupid now...

I think of it as this (and yes, I found this and agree with it to its entirety): "Technology will be our downfall, don't let the future and technology desensitize you and take away the little things in life. The government burns the books to keep the public and general people from obtaining knowledge. And without knowledge we can obtain nothing."

Knowing her name wasn't hard for me as every blue moon I'd see a stupid commercial advertising a box set of the Shirley temple films available in black & white and in color

Hell, I'm a huge technological person and think that every single enhancement is for the better fore the most part.
