Goodbye 2K!

A couple weeks ago on Twitter, I mentioned that I’d be moving up north to continue working on the WWE 2K franchise. Well, there’s been a slight change of plans…

I’m actually going to be staying here in sunny Los Angeles, where I plan on pursuing a few different opportunities – none of which are really ready to be blasted out publicly yet.

The split is completely amicable, and I won’t even be going anywhere immediately: I’ll still be manning the helm through the middle of next month. That gives you a few weeks to still get in all your Aubrey-time.

Suffice to say that I’m super excited about what’s coming down the pike, and I hope you’ll stay tuned to my Twitter, where I’ll definitely tell you all about it when I can. You can also expect to continue seeing a flood of wrestling-based tweets – that won’t be changing anytime soon.

I was pretty sure that most of this was going to happen, a couple of months ago Marcus made a very cryptic twitter post about giving the WWE 2K guys jobs and no one picked up on it. I only knew about it because one of my friends who is a twit or twat or whatever the hell they call those twitter users sent me a link to the tweedlie-twussle tart tit what the fuck ever when I grew up we just called it a fucking message.

Anyway over the last month the other playtesters and I were chatting about it and waiting to see if we'd hear anything first, and while some of us picked up on some clues nothing was concrete. Then Cory took the "2K" out of his twitter profile and we got wind that the office was going to close down so it started looking like a relocation thing. Once that proved true, and once Aubrey said that he'd be sticking around, we figured that was the end of it.

I didn't expect him to suddenly change his mind. It sucks, whomever is next is going to be the third or fourth guy in that position in as many years and chances are he'll just be a generic 2K guy and not be particularly into wrestling or familiar with the games.

Say what you will about Aubrey, he knew his wrestling.

Guys good news, I'm taking over as community manager. They don't want me to move up to the US but rather work at a local 2K Office in Australia.

I will miss Aubrey though, he was such a great guy, although, he never replied to my tweets.
